Below are dogs I have bred or had living here at Devonelite. They all lived with us until various ages and were all very much loved members of our family. For various reasons they were then placed in loving pet homes where they are loved and cherished. I miss each and everyone of them from the bottom of my heart.
Most of these dogs are visited if we're in their area and still recognise their mum!!!
Georgia Devonelite Mystical Star
Georgia was the first born in my first ever litter and for that reason she is extremely special.
Georgia is Brodie's litter sister.
Georgia had her first litter of 4 beautiful puppies at nearly 3 years old and after problems ended up having a c-section. From this litter I kept Quest and now also have Maia who was returned to me.
After having her pups Georgia was spayed and went to live with Jay (a big Georgia fan and a friend) at her equestian centre. She now has 10 acres to cause chaos in and helps the children who ride and keep their horses there to eat their pack lunches!!!
Devon Devonelite Freespirit
Devon was Brooke's litter sister and my first yellow labrador.
Devon was an extremely naughty puppy who was full of life.
I will always remember the day I popped out leaving her with a friend. Upon my return about an hour later Devon was found in the study along with Brooke. Only problem was they also had the hosepipe, which had been left on in the garden!!! The floor was about 2 inches deep in water but they were having great fun splashing around BLESS THEM.
Devon was also an extremely keen gardener, only Devon thought that all the garden plants should be pulled up (however big) and taken to the lounge, yep they looked much better in the lounge than out in the garden!!!
At 12 months of age Devon went to live with a friend after her own yellow labrador died. She nows has a 50 acre farm to play on and of course she helps with the sheep.
Ebony Samphire Ebony For Devonelite
Ebony was a working bred labrador.
We attended gundog classes together where she progressed extremely quickly. She was a natural and could work and achieve her aim with very little instruction from me. Our first working test ever we scored 92 out of a possible 120 points. Not bad for a first attempt.
Our gundog trainer Steve Ashby was brilliant and Ebony adored him and if she felt she could get away with it would take her bird to Steve instead of me!!!
Ebony's ownly downfall was her handler (me!!!) and so once I had made the decision to leave Devon for Wales she went to live with Steve. Ebony was a dog who was born to work and she lived for that. She now wins well at working tests and works all through the season with her best mate - STEVE.
Quest Devonelite Star Quest
Quest was the first born in Georgia's litter and was the only puppy from that litter born naturally. From that first day I couldn't take my eyes off of him and knew he would stay.
Quest was like his mum Georgia, he had a big personality, was full of mischief and didn't have time to stop and listen!!! As he matured he turned into a big softee who was a real mummy's boy. Quest had a magical personality and everyone who met him fell in love with him.
Quest hated the show ring as a youngster. However when we moved to Wales, Vicky started to show him and he decided he would enjoy the showring however as far as he was concerned she was his handler in the ring.
Right from the start if I left Quest by himself, I would come home to a very sick and frightened puppy, in the end it was easier to take him with me, unfortunately this made the problem worse and although when he got older he would stay at home whilst we went shopping he hated to be left any longer.
I will always remember the day Quest was left in the lounge whilst I showed a potential puppy buyer into the puppy room to view a litter. Upon our return to the lounge we were met with a scene of devastation. The puppy buyer had left her handbag in the lounge!!! Quest had discovered it and emptied it's contents around the floor, however he had eaten or chewed everything, diary, purse, make-up, brush etc etc................the ownly thing he had left was her cheque book from which she later paid a deposit for her puppy!!!
Or the day when I put a 5kg tub of puppy milk powder in the car and Quest got into it, well I can tell you milk powder and dog drool do not go, the car had a thick goo all mashed into seats and everything else. It took me a week to clean the car out. I couldn't shout at him cos I was too busy laughing!!! Bless him!!!
At the age of 2, I decided that although it was going to break my heart, Quest would actually be happier living in a home where he was either the only dog or the 2nd dog. Quest liked to be near people and busy at all times. Unfortunately because he hated to left alone he was difficult to find a home for and despite many many enquiries he was still waiting for that very special family over a year later.
I am happy to say that in May 2005 that family contacted me by phone and were then invited to meet Quest. What can I say they were indeed everything I'd dreamt of for my baby and a week later he moved to Gloucester where he has settled happily and of course stolen their hearts.
I miss you baby, love you always. Even after all these years I still miss you like crazy.
Raine Devonelite Chasin' Dreams
Raine was from Brooke's 2nd litter, from this litter I kept two puppies Raine and Devon the 2nd, with the view that by 6 months of age I would place one or the other in a pet home. I chose Devon simply because of her colour and so Raine was found a family to love.
Raine now lives in Somerset where she is having a whale of a time.
She has been lightly shown and been placed at the Labrador Club shows.
Riot Devonelite Caught Yur Lookin'
Riot was Lottie's son. He was stunning and I had always wanted a male rottweiler to show.
Riot was the sweetest, softest dog and he was a real mummy's boy.
At his first show he was awarded 1st rottweiler puppy and then 2nd in the puppy group, a real achievement for any pup on their first outing to the show ring. The future looked bright.
Unfortuanately due to ill health that dream of showing a male rottweiler will not come true, I have had to make the decision to let Riot go.
In July 2005 Riot moved to Herefordshire to live with his new family where he is settling well.
Oliver Devonelite Star Attraction
Oliver was the sweetest baby, another real mummy's boy with eyes for no-one else. Oliver had an expression that could melt even the coldest heart and a head to die for. he was a gorgeous boy.
Oliver loved to boss his sister Seren around and loved toys and going for walks on the mountain with his great grandmother Beth.
As with Riot due to ill health I had to make the hard decision to let Oliver goto a pet home.
He has now moved to Kent to live with his new mummy and daddy where he is settling well and learning lots of new things. I am told he is also auditioning for the new andrex advert, and doesn't understand he is the wrong colour. Never mind I'm sure he'll continue to enjoy chewing up and eating all his new families toilet rolls. You promised to behave Oliver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Breeze Rooklane Atlantic Breeze For Devonelite
Breeze was our very first chocolate and was extremely laid back.
Everyone loved Breeze to bits but unfortunately Breeze and I never really clicked. I don't really know why as she was a beautiful, happy go lucky girl.
Breeze went to live with a friend who already had a Devonelite dog and had always asked if she could have Breeze. The condition was that Breeze would come back to have 2 litters.
Breeze produced the first of these litters and after an extremely hard whelping and a c-section she has now been spayed and will continue to live with the Talbot-Browns and her half sister Charley.
Thanks for giving us our new hopes for 2006, Mole and Satin. Mole was Best Puppy In Breed at his first show at the age of 7 months.
Good Luck Breeze.
To all those who have taken on the above dogs I thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving them the opportunity of a loving home.
Thank you for all the updates and give the dogs a big hug from me.
Sophie Devonelite Star By Design for Widgerwood
Sophie belonged to Vicky and Denise of the Widgerwood kennels. She was a happy little girl although a little shy.
Sophie loved nothing better than to run around the fields and play.
She has now moved on to live with a new family in a pet home in Windsor.
Sophie really was an ugly little duckling but she has grown into the most beautiful swan. She is gorgeous.
She is no longer shy either and loves to say hello to everyone.
Thanks to Patrica for taking her on and giving her a loving home.
Tarn Devonelite Running Wild
Tarn is a River baby and a 4th generation Devonelite baby. He was with us until he was 6 months old , when we were offered a lovely home for him. Tarn has flown out to Canada where he is going to have the best life ever.
Tarn is a gorgeous pup who is sooooooooooooo laid back you'd think he was dead!!!
Tarn will also hopefully be competing in the showring over there, we wish him lots of luck.
Okeechobee Devonelite Turn It On again
Okeechobee is a River baby and a 4th generation Devonelite baby. We call him Chobee for short!!!
He is named after a lake in Florida. The name actually means BIG WATER in Indian.
He is a very happy puppy who is so laid back however he used to occasionally wake up enough to have a trot around the farm and when he did he used to love playing with Devon (who happened to think she was his mother and was always cleaning him). Chobee is like a huge teddy bear and loves to be cuddled..
With Chobee being too laid back for the show ring we decided to find him a pet home and he now lives in Gloucester with his new Mum and Dad and his 4 brothers.
Love you Chobee and good luck.
Mole Devonelite Obsolete Rumour
Mole is the litter brother of Satin. His mother is Breeze. Mole's father lives on a ranch in California.
Mole was my first male chocolate and is named after his father.
Mole is a typical labrador puppy and loves to play with toys, plastic bottles and crisp packets (empty of course). Mole has selective hearing at times, unless of course you happen to have hold of the biscuit tin!!!
Most of all Mole is full of fun, well socialised and of course loves curling up in front of the fire.
Mole was shown and did well winning Best Puppy In Breed awards. At 10 months of age we decided Mole would be better suited to a pet home with his own family. Mole now lives in ...............................
Maia was sold to a lovely family at 8 weeks of age but unfortunately was returned to us at the age of 2 years.
She stayed with us and settled back in well with all the other dogs. She was probably the best behaved dog we had here at Devonelite. She was very sweet and loved to babysit the youngsters, always being very patient with them and showing them how to behave.
Maia matured into a beautiful looking labrador and at 4 and a half was very very nice.
Maia had 2 litters with us, but her 2nd one resulted in her having a c - section, then she had mastisis and then a womb infection. She was extremely ill but made a full recovery. We hand reared her litter and they all grew up to be beautiful puppies. After such a hard time we decided it was best that Maia was never bred from again and so we had her spayed. She was then offered a fantastic home with one of my friends and her litter brother Hamish.
Maia has settled well and visits for coffee regularly.
Breeding for temperment, soundness and conformation.
DOGS FROM THE PAST
Seren Devonelite Star Chaser
Seren was with us for 2 years and had 1 litter here. Her name means Star in Welsh.
Seren was very sweet and loved lots of attention. She loved playing with Devon and Satin charging up and down in the garden.
Seren has gone to live with Dave Thomson in Scotland. He is a fellow show person and breeder and they are winning well in the ring.
